I do want to clarify stuff. I believe I heard on the news that we're having a heat wave.
Let me s'plane. Zero clouds. Pool temp -12. Air temp +6, beer temp -56.
Day one of pool day. Sure way to clog pool filter is have dogs shedding winter coat jump in the pool.
And as we have almost no humidity, getting out of the pool, not using a towel to dry off, your dry in about 4 minutes.
When Louise got out she complained about being cold because how fast the water evaporated (Note that you must get out to get another beer)

Anyway two ways to look at it. 1, extreme heat wave or 2, pools open and beers cold...

After that 2nd beer, you also have to get out of the pool to...

Good morning! It isn't only AZ that is dry. Man, we could use some moisture!
Went on a hike Sunday with the 2 girls I hiked with in Denver a couple of months ago. We were having fun and enjoying the scenery, until I realized my phone fell out of my pocket way back in the slot canyon. Phone was found, by at least 2 people. One took it back to the parking lot and put it on the gate. The other one heard it ring and put it on the Bronco, as my friend asked her to do. Lol
The Dar-la Islam own the land. We went and saw the mosque. We got to hear a call to prayer. One friend lived in Amman for a year, she is now a widow. Good to hear her stories. We went into Abiqueue and browsed an Antique store and then stopped by the Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center and learned more about her. Then had a great New Mexican meal on the way back to Albuquerque.
Job is still going good!
Have a good day. Hug the ones you love!

Good Taco Tuesday, Kids!
Spring Breaks for littles are starting to happen all over, so be careful when you’re out and about…

After two dry days with shuttle sunshine we are back in the grey this morning with wet weather, and possibly even some snow, in the coming days…. Sigh…

Kirkland Colombian is brewing and taking orders for a run to the local taco truck now… let it rip!
The sign below is likely still accurate, though Teslas probably give Subarus a run for there money here…

Have a great day, all!

I'm always amused that I see some cars with a bumpersticker that says, "Schools Open! Drive Carefully." A few miles later I might see a bumpersticker sticker that reads, "Schools Out! Drive Carefully." People should rotate their bumperstickers.

You're in the home state of Starbucks (at least for a while) and you drink Costco? I can get Starbucks (varieties vary) at BJs Wholesale cheaper than Costco's Columbian. I understand the situation with the gas price increase, but why has coffee jumped so high?

Have a great day, all!

I joke about a "Subaru-friendly trail," but now I can joke about a Subaru-friendly state. My daughter drives a CrossTrek with a manual, lots of fun, I love that!

Good Wednesday Morning, Kids!
Halfway through the week and looking like a little sunshine and cool this morning before we toy with the idea of snow sometime tomorrow… we shall see!

Was reading an article this morning about two reservoirs near Corpus Christi that are at historic low levels due to drought and industrial pressure… When traveling to AZ last month we skirted a number of lakes that looked to be many, many feet below what would be considered “summer level”. With the lack of snow pack and already historic low levels I fear for the coming fire season, as we’re already seeing fires where we normally don’t (Nebraska, for one).
Be smart, and be safe!

Filled up the F-150 a couple days ago… Yikes! I am thankful that for daily bipping around we have the Maverick with the hybrid engine, though with gas prices so high here I do miss my little electric Focus. Current prices in Western Washington for Chevron start at $5.39 for regular unleaded and $5.79 for premium, with diesel running 6.49ish a gallium… OUCH. Travelled earlier in the week to the radiated of the state and gas was about 30¢ lower, which makes no sense since the refineries in Washington are all located on the westside…

Coffee’s on, and donuts for those not watching their waistlines! Have a great Wednesday!

Yikes! I needed a rental a little while ago, and Enterprise gave me an Escape, which is the foundation build for the Bronco Sport Junior Wannabee. I wasn't impressed. If they share the same 3-cylindar engine, that thing ain't gonna win any high-speed pursuits.

I would bet @Melissa Clark could could give them some tips on making the Sport go fast enough to keep up with all but the most “Muscle-y” of perpetrators cars…. For the vast majority of LEO needs I would think a Sport would be just fine…

Good Thursday Morning, Kids!
Our “snowstorm” turned out to be some scattered rain showers down low, with white stuff in the mountain passes. This morning we have beautiful sunshine and a cold breeze coming through the valley… MY ornamental cherry trees are in full bloom, so the hope is that maybe we can move forward with the season change…

Coffee is on, and eggs and bacon will be up shortly!
Have a great day, ALL!

Howdy from sunny Arizona. Where our safety meetings are talking about working in the extreme heat. And also about rattlesnakes and scorpions.

Most of us agree that when spring kicked of last Friday at like 10:30 our summer started at 10:31. It was a beautiful spring, all 60 seconds.
But you know me, I'm loving it. Rattlesnakes and all.

Let's stop the hate for the Sport. The Explorer police package comes with a police interceptor engine. Even if the police package sport comes with the 4 cylinder engine, I can tell you that it has enough power. That does not look like a Badlands trim, because it doesn't look high enough. It doesn't mean that a police package wouldn't have a larger engine.
I agree. The three cylinder engine was a big reason why I went with the Badlands.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

Here's what Googles AI give me what I ask about the Sport for LEO use...

The Ford Bronco Sport is used by law enforcement and government agencies primarily as a light-duty, versatile patrol or administrative vehicle, offering 4x4 capability and rugged styling in a compact footprint. While not typically used for high-speed pursuits due to its 1.5L or 2.0L engine options, its features make it suitable for park rangers, community policing, and detectives.

Key Features for Law Enforcement Use:

  • Standard 4x4: All models come with 4x4 capability, enabling travel on snow, gravel, or light off-road terrain.
  • G.O.A.T. Modes®: Selectable driving modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl on Badlands) allow officers to adjust vehicle performance to road conditions.
  • Rugged Design: The "Safari-style" roof provides extra headroom, while rubberized flooring and seating in certain trims make for easy cleanup of dirty gear or evidence.
  • Utility & Storage: Includes a cargo-area 12V outlet, rear LED spotlights (useful for illuminating scenes at night), and a split-glass liftgate for quick access to equipment.
  • Visibility: The boxy, upright design offers good visibility and a high seating position for urban patrolling.
  • Technology: Available with a 180-degree front-facing camera that acts as a "spotter" on trails or in tight areas.
Potential Limitations:
  • Powertrain: The 1.5L 3-cylinder engine is often considered underpowered, though the 2.0L option is more capable.
  • Space: As a compact SUV, it has limited rear legroom compared to larger, dedicated police SUVs like the Ford Police Interceptor Utility.
The Badlands trim is the most likely candidate for more demanding, off-pavement law enforcement roles due to its upgraded suspension and twin-clutch rear drive unit.

Thank you, Joerg. Not Saying that they would get into a pursuit. It has its purpose.
I've read the posts, and I continue to scoff. If it's a marked vehicle, it should be a capable vehicle. Otherwise, leave it white with something like "Boston Police Community Services" or something. Parking officers go around in little Chevy EVs, which makes perfect sense.

If I'm going after somebody, I want some horsepower. I've lost a few pursuits, but won most of them. Including chasing down a Harley on the Mass Pike at 120 (he gave up). And I corralled a BMW M-something-or-another in Allston driving the patrol wagon, an F-250 with a big box.

Sometimes I do miss the job.

Good Friday morning Bronco peeps! Coffee is on, grab a mug and help yourself!
Short pospost, took a minute to catch up.
We get a little cool here today, about -30°. Dry and windy. And we have had several wildfires, but I think they are under control.
