I’ve been considering a farm jack. They’re very handy and can be used in a multitude of situations, especially since I’m not running a winch. I know one must be very careful with them. I used to use the old bumper jacks on my first cars. Took a shot from one of those not paying attention. That only happens once…

By the way, coffee is up. Only coffee this morning. Headed to PT for the knee. Trying to avoid surgery. There’s still some fudge left from Uranus Fudge Factory, if anyone is interested…

Are you considering knee surgery? I spent a good 10 yrs with bone on bone pain in my knees. Finally gave in and had full knee replacements done on both. Now I wish I had done that 10 yrs ago As they are incredible now. If that’s the surgery you’re thinking about, they do these very well these days. Get a good reputable surgeon, ask if they can recommend other patients you can ask about how they did and if your‘re able go for it! Being pain free is worth it after recovery!

Good advice for hips too! I watched my husband take 2 years to get through his hip replacements, 1st one got infected and finally had to be removed so the antibiotics could get it.
Took a long time for my pain to overcome my fear. I got both mine done in 6 months and 2 weeks and it has been fabulous! I too wished I hadn't waited so long.

Good morning Libations Crew! Hope I get this posted before I get distracted!
Now that it is cooler out, I'm going through things in the house. Should have done this when it was hot outside, but I didn't. I chose to be out in the shop going through things, in the heat with no AC.
My sister, who is 78, and her daughter fly in next Wednesday. I can't wait! But, I have a lot that I would like to get done before then. It will be next week before I know it.
I have coffee for anyone that's desperate. At least my poor choices in cheap coffee are getting me ready for hotel and other people's coffee.
Hope everyone has a great day! Hug the ones you love!

Howdy folks! Sorry I’ve been absent. We made it home on 9/10 early evening. 9/11 picked up the puppers and was avoiding all the coverage on the airwaves. Past few days I was working on the beast. Fixed a binding problem with a dremel, changed the oil and rotated the tires…damn, I don’t remember tire rotations taking that long. Then again, they never weighed 80+ pounds. My back isn’t what it used to be. Also replaced my Wolfbox rear camera and mounted it on the inside because while blowing off some dirt in Colorado with the local power washer, I forced water into it…🤣 At least when I called Wolfbox, they just said they’d send me another rear camera, no questions. Anyway, I think I’m getting back to normal…as normal as I can be…
Here‘s how I get the spare back up onto the tailgate when I’m tired…

Jeff would use the engine hoist to lift his Jeep up to mount his '40s.
When he had no hip joint for 8 months, he figured out how to get in his Jeep. So we got him out to a fun area 19 minutes from home. He slashed a side wall. We got him out of there, but the tire had to be changed to get him home. It took several of the guys with us to do this. Luckily, some were younger with strong backs and weak minds.

Not just yet. I see the surgeon again on the 29th. I tore medial meniscus, towards the rear. He said it could regenerate, so we are in a wait and see mode. As of now, I feel 90% better than I did a month ago. I wore a brace and sleeve around the yard and while out shopping and such until we got home from Colorado. PT has helped too. I still have 3 weeks left. As of now, I’m thinking no. I’m not bone on bone. The swelling is gone. I still have some foreign bodies floating around and arthritis. The surgeon is very conservative, which I like about him.

Been fighting knee pain for 3-4 years now and still scared to go to doctor for fear of what they may say. I’ve heard knee surgery/replacement is the worse. 🤷‍♂️

@Sam I Am 1966 if you have a quality doctor it’s not that bad. These days they put you under and two-three hours later you wake up in your hospital room. You get lunch and then PT starts. You’ll be up on a walker starting the process to build up strength and coordination in your knees. The goal being to maximize your range of motion so your ready to take on the world again. First two weeks is PT around your home while the wound heals. By week 3-4 you’re able to start out patient PT. Depending on what leg you maybe ready to drive. Week 5-7 is all about bragging at PT over how many leg lifts you did and how far you were able to bend that knee. The pain is only in the start from the wound so the meds take care of that. After that any pain is from how far you push yourself in PT. I had my left knee done two years ago and my right last year! Here is what a full replacement looks like. Today I am able to move in any fashion and I am able to work out with the knees where before I could not! It’s all about attitude And having a solid doctor. The medicine today is 1000 times better than 5-10 years ago.

Sam,
My two knee replacements (Steve Austin 1.0 and 2.0) went swimmingly, I’m now at one year on 1.0 and will celebrate one year with 2.0 at Christmas time… My two knees were both bone on bone, and I probably suffered with them 10 years longer than I should have… I now have no pain except sore muscles as I work to build them back up after years of compensating for my arthritic knees…

Will there be pain? Absolutely, but once you’re through the tough part and PT, you’ll be golden… and I’m no longer bowlegged…

ps- I wouldn’t recommend having a partial replacement… all or nothing, friend…

Thanks @Bluestreak57. I got to ask, can you run 60 mph now? 😂 With inflation, and two knees, I’ll assume you are the $12 million dollar man now! Serious, thanks for info and encouragement. And I did note; all or nothing.

I have an 87 year old friend who had a partial, and just had to go back in and have the partial torn out and a total knee replacement done… Today’s technology and materials are AMAZING!

And, YES, as soon as I regain the strength in my glutes, hammies, and quads… 10-12 years of limping around on bum knees cost me a lot of muscle mass below the waist…

I've been in the orthopedic manufacturing business for over 35 years and I can tell you that the surgeon makes all the difference. If you would rather stay fairly close to your home, DM me and I can get you a name of a great surgeon in your area. The area sales reps know which ones they would let their parents go to and which ones to stay away from. I can make a few calls and get you a name.

The best advice I can give you is "just do it!" After you get it done, you'll wonder why you wasted so many years in pain. Also make sure you do rehab 110%. Yes, it will hurt but the end game will be worth it.
