Howdy from sunny Arizona. Only it's dark out now.
We spent most of yesterday dealing with a scammer. Owning a business, we have managed to fight off several.
Monday we got a different set up.
Got a call that caller ID showed one of our banks. The caller identified as bank security.
Asking about a wire in Florida. We said no, they said okay, we'll handle it. And they hung up. Never asked for account information.
4 days later same number called, caller ID indicates our bank. Now there's a problem and we need to _________.
The set up was well played. Be advised.
Took up two work days to cover our a$$

They've come a long way from "Nigerian prince who needs to liberate blood diamonds..."
Some use AI to imitate the voice of loved one who is out of state with an emergency.*
Another is to state that your email address will be cancelled for some sort of reason, and to log in (through this email) to avoid having it cancelled. Then they have your log-in info, and can access your address book etc.

*If you're a loved one and need money for bail, forget it--even if the call is legit!

Shoot! It is amazing the schemes they come up with. In the last few years, some accounts assigned to me got tricked.
And the growth in Cyber coverage premium has exploded - 1st and 3rd party coverage.
So glad you were able to cover your a$$.

YAY, it's the weekend! All my friends are off work and I've got fun things to do!
HAPPY SATURDAY!
Going to a coffee shop for a little car show. It is nice to once in while to park your off-road vehicle and be able to stand around and shoot the breeze with like minded folks. And we have a club meeting tonight too.
I took my Bronco in for the rear shock recall inspection and was approved for the repairs. They said parts should be in Thursday and they will call me and get me in Friday for the fix. Yeah, didn't happen. So I may stop by there and ask them to explain it to this sweet 'ol lady!
Oh, and the fair was so much fun yesterday! Saw so many animals! And they have added a petting zoo.
Hope everyone has a really good day! Hug the ones you love!

Happy Saturday. It's cooling down a bunch we're under the triple digits. Of course many still would call it extreme heat.
This has been a very mild summer.
Several years ago we were at an event called "hogs in heat". A family style BBQ, with beer by the pitcher, home made pies and live music. It was in October and the crowd cheering when the person on stage announced we finally got under 100. I think we were ending a 145 day streak of over 100.
But hey.. the pool is still open

Sorry, I can't do the somber juke for Sven. I was listening to some of the songs that I thought of and I don't think that he would have wanted us to play them. Here I go. Please let me know if my thoughts were wrong.

Thanks for the tunes that followed your post above, @Wolf. I am one of those whose interaction with @Sven was confined to this and other threads in the forum. Still, I saw his humanity and compassion, as well as his wit and humor through his posts. I also think he wouldn't do somber, either...

It's been a week since I returned from the epic adventure in Colorado and I'm still processing it. Also needing to find a way to get photos of the trip out of the work phone and curate videos taken with a GoPro that I didn't learn to use well enough. (Incidentally, this is just another version of my "I had no business being on this f***ing trail!" sentence right after surviving Black Bear Pass. šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜… )

Good morning, Bronco people! There is a pot of BRC Tactisquatch ready to go for your first or refill cup as you enjoy a quiet Sunday morning. I have a hankering for pancakes and bacon (of course!) for brunch. 😁

Sending hugs to everyone who'll accept it... šŸ˜€ Please do keep taking care of each other and yourself.

Good Sunday Evening, Kids!
Home from my 50 year HS reunion and I have to say it was so much more fun than my 10th year gathering… By 50 years everyone has pretty much grown up and gotten over themselves… cliques have mostly disappeared and catching up involves sharing grandkids photos and surgery scars… The event was so much more enjoyable than I expected it would be!

Added bonus… at breakfast this morning struck up a convo with a guy in a Bronco T-shirt… he has a 2021 ā€œBadlands Wildtrakā€ that he has lifted, added paint matched riveted fender flares, a new hood with a huge scoop… vintage Bronco striping, dual exhaust and big tires finished it out… As my wife said, the beauty of the Bronco is doing as much or as little to them as the owner chooses! This guy is on BN somewhere, but was reluctant to share his screen name so he will remain anonymous… still a fun discussion!

Hope y’all had a great weekend!

Happy Monday morning! We had rain Friday night and it stopped a bit on Saturday morning. It cooled us way down. Started raining about 12:30pm. I left the house about 2pm and had to grab a jacket. Glad I did. I had to stop and pick up something on my way to the NM4W meeting/pot luck dinner, it was windy and raining. But we were able to eat and have the meeting outside, with jackets on. These people live in the foothills. Switchbacks and shelf roads to get there. But no wild horses came by.
One guy had a '66 Bronco. It had been his parents, they bought it new. I wanted to talk to him more, but I had started crying. Jeff was mentioned in the meeting when they were discussing what we were doing on National Public Lands day. We are putting up more trail signs. He made the 1st sign out there 20 years ago. And then again during the discussion on the budget. The club made 2 donations to Blue Ribbon Coalition for 2 members that passed away.
There is another guy who was given his father's '71 Bronco, they too bought it new. So great that these are kept up and get out of the barn.
Our highs are in the mid '80s this week. Weird weather.
Have a great day! Be kind and hug people.

Found an old picture of me taking a selfish with my phone in the 70s.

Good Tuesday Morning, Kids!
The gray skies have vacated the PNW for the next few days, and we have a warm wind bringing lots of smoke our way from eastern Washington…. Sunny and -15° with lots of haze… I’ll take it! It’s unfortunately going to raise the fire danger exponentially, so hoping people will be smart and not careless with their butts…

Last week I passed a milestone of one year on Steve Austin 1.0 and have to report I couldn’t be happier with how he has progressed…. If I would just get my butt out and walk more to rebuild my leg muscles I’d be golden…. the muscles are sore and get pissed, but the knees themselves have virtually no pain any longer… YAY!

Hoping that all of you are having a great start to fall, and that your football team(s) are having success. Sonya is happy because she can get her pumpkin spice muffins at Starbucks for the next month or two.

Have a great Tuesday!

Howdy folks! Sorry I’ve been absent. We made it home on 9/10 early evening. 9/11 picked up the puppers and was avoiding all the coverage on the airwaves. Past few days I was working on the beast. Fixed a binding problem with a dremel, changed the oil and rotated the tires…damn, I don’t remember tire rotations taking that long. Then again, they never weighed 80+ pounds. My back isn’t what it used to be. Also replaced my Wolfbox rear camera and mounted it on the inside because while blowing off some dirt in Colorado with the local power washer, I forced water into itā€¦šŸ¤£ At least when I called Wolfbox, they just said they’d send me another rear camera, no questions. Anyway, I think I’m getting back to normal…as normal as I can be…

My biceps aren't what they used to be...!

I'm lucky: The Air Force base near me has an "automotive hobby center" that vets can use, a full work bay with lift + tools for $5/hour! So I can lift all 4 tires. I found that if I lift the truck just a tiny, tiny bit, I can get the new tire to match the lugs, and once I have two on, the rest will follow.

For out in the boonies, if I have to change a tire, I use my OEM scissor jack (with a study base) to micro-adjust the height so my new wheel's holes match the lugs. I carry a farm jack to lift the flat up to the rear gate, if nobody is around to help. In 2022 I was in western Utah, got a flat in Millard County close to the Nevada line, offroad 40 miles or so from pavement, and believe it or not, an elk hunter came by to help! I was mostly done, but he helped me lift the flat onto the rear gate.
