Scott, were it me I would be looking for a good water (and therefore windproof shell from Columbia and would buy it sized so i could wear a sweater or two underneath…. Keeps everything light and fairly easy to pack… REI would be my shopping stop.

Yes….. depending on the material. Gortex as far as rain repellent is nice but noisy. ( at least the older stuff). My Jack wolfskin is 20 years old and purchased in Germany and worn in winter there and in Switzerland . A little snug ( lying, alot snug) but still warm and waterproof. When u go over there and go to Switzerland, if u by chance go thru Interlocken, stop in at Hooters and tell’em Ron says hi!!

we are gonna go by REI tomorrow for a look. You and @Chief Ron already have me looking at stuff I would not have considered.

I will have to agree with Al and the Chief. But I'm not a good one to ask as I wear a hoody with a long sleeve T at zero. When I need more than that I add a wool vest and go from there.
All my wind/water proof winter stuff is KLIM brand since it is my snowmobiling gear as well.
All my winter work wear has to be cotton/FR.....

I got spammed by Duluth Trading Co, and clicked on a sale offering. I ended up buying a comfy lined zip-up wool sweater, very warm, and some work pants that are very thick and loaded with pockets and loops. 8 pockets, plus 2 side seam, to accommodate everything from phone to pen to pocket tool to "cargo" pocket. Aside from the side seam pockets, they're all fitted with velcro-closing flaps so stuff doesn't fall out or get pickpocketed. I don't know about their outwear, but they're worth a look. 2 years ago today I ended my 862 Day wait when I picked up my Bronco. I still remember some of the miserable times over those years and I am thankful for BN and many of you for helping me through. I'm now 38,989 miles in and as happy as day one. Still mostly stock and driven daily
