I have a Rough Country High Winch mount with a Warn Zeon 10S..

The mount that comes in the Ford kit sits way to low and sticks out quite a bit which IMO is not the ideal for off-road use..

But as you can see in this photo, the Bronco lettering is partially covered..

Did you also reenforce the frame horns?

Not yet.

It’s on my todo list but I’ve been lazy and don’t want to tear the bumper back off..

I know I need to do it, just need to get motivated...

Yeah, I know that feeling ... or spend a ton of money having someone else do the work.

You want a wench or a winch? This is a wench.

Send two!

Send two!

Don't be greedy! Besides, they are expensive to maintain, so you want to think about the fact that two would double your costs.

Two would leave you destitute. One is already taking half!

I have Rough Country's high mount. I used frame horn reinforcement brackets. Mine is a Warn 12k. I've used it to give some pretty good tugs, it's stayed on and worked.

I am not the leader. I just like to go first.

I am a fan of DV8 and got an email a few weeks ago from them announcing Bronco frame horns.

I’ll probably order them when I get back from my trip.

DV8 announcing Bronco frame horns….

interesting they had gotten some bad press (videos on recovery issues ) re their bumpers.

Matt’s Recovery

Their design removes the horse shoe backing that ford used to hold there basic bumpers. Then turned the bolts 180* through the horn flange, into six clip-on nuts…

Frame reinforcements aren’t going to help

I’ll stick with my ford HD bumper and winch kit…

Interesting ... the video you posted doesn't show any damage to the bumper, etc. since they decided not to use it based on past bad experience. I suspect that experience was when they actually recovered the DV8 Bronco and picked up the front via the bumper. Long story short, it bent the frame horn but it didn't pull off the bumper. In this case, I think that some frame form reenforcement might have helped that situation.

Just about anything ’might’ have helped…. lol

A DV8 bumper
Designed for a B6G
Installed on DV8 owned bronco
DV8 installed a 12,000# winch
DV8 uses ‘speed nuts’ for major attachment

What might have happened if just two thirds of the winch capacity was used?

That bronco weighs less than 5,000 pounds, yet the components failed when just the front was lifted…
2,500 pounds ??

It seared the bolts for bumper to skid plate 3 of them.. per their DV8 instructions M8 bolts
“STEP 17 Secure the skid plate to the bumper using the provided M8 hardware “

https://dv8offroad.com/cdn/shop/files/FBFR-01_Install_Guide_Final.pdf?v=7985255945467945863

The instructions in post 28, for their horn support, show the use of 2 M8 and 2 M10 bolts, nuts & washers … to attach brackets to the side of the frame rail ends. The only thing that is used to stop upward/ downward rotation of the bumper…

After personally installing the Ford M-1820-B kit, comparing to theirs … Caveat emptor

Just about every manufacturer on the planet has issues with a product at some point.

I'll order the DV8 horns as like I said, I am a fan of DV8 products. I am not worried about them failing and if they do, then that's just the way it goes sometimes.

I have DV8 Fender flares, DV8 Rock Sliders, DV8 Rear Diff Skid, DV8 Shock Skids and DV8 A-Arm Skids. I am 110% happy with them all..

Several years ago I saw a dude rip a Warn bumper off his Wrangler. Avoid Warn? Another guy had his brand new ARB dual fail on the 1st use. Avoid ARB? etc.........

With my modular bumper I went with the Turn winch plate and WARN 10k lbs cable winch.

I have run a couple tests(once a year [2]) against this install. I have pulled my bronco against a tree during my tests.
