Anyone gone from load range C tires to E? What's your opinion of this change? Ride? Airing down? Weight issues? Other things?

I skipped E and went straight to load range F. Only because the BFG K03s were only offered in an F last year when I got these. The road noise is way less on the K03s but that has to do with lug pattern and not load range. I have to air down a little more than when I had the Cs because of the stiffer sidewall. I don’t really feel the extra weight but I did lose about 1-2 mpg but average speed affects the mpg more than the tires. They ride great but also they need less air. Discount filled them to 40psi and they rode very harsh but dropped them to 36 psi and they are much more comfortable.
BN 1100, Desert Sand Everglades. Reservation 7/30/20. ordered 1/22/21, reordered 10/15/21 dropped tow and hard top, reordered 3/9/22 changed to Everglades. production date 9/7/22 rescheduled 9/14/22 completed 9/26/22, shipped 10/7/22, arrived 10/31/22, delivered 11/03/22

So, it sounds like it worked out ok for you. I was concerned going to an E would be a combination of bad things leading to a way less than optimal setup for my Bronco.

Wherever you go, there you are!

IMO going from C to E you'll notice a few things.

  • They are heavier
  • They are louder
  • Less MPG
  • Rougher ride on the road
  • Can't comment on airing down as I do not do extreme rock crawling (not my jam). For the National Forest trails that I generally traverse, I air down to 18 PSI or so....

I almost always try to find C rated tires in the size and variant (MT / RT / AT) that I want even if that means going with a different brand.
