Hello! I am looking at adding the Ford Procal to my 2025 3.0L Braptor but see that 91 octane fuel is a requirement. Has anyone else run normal unleaded and had any issues? I understand I will not get the maximum power benefit but with the price of gas here lately, I am hesitant to move up to 91+. Constructive thoughts and advice, please? TIA!

I have the 2025 bronco 2.3. from what I understand the procal tune requires at least 91 octane. since install of the procal tune on mine I have noticed pretty good hp and trqu gains. running regular fuel is supposed to cause engine knock sensors to go haywire. not sure of the damage to the engine but it cant be good. my mpg dropped 4mpg with the tune. not sure what it is with the 3.0 engine. the procal tune is not for mpg, its for more hp. run the 93octane. these vehicles are not toyota priuses.

I think 91 or 93 is highly recommended in the Raptor, before the ProCal... so I'd say 91 or 93 with tune... or don't install it.

If you run regular 87 unleaded on that map, the fuel will pre-ignite (knock) under load. Your ECU's knock sensors will immediately detect this and violently pull timing to protect the engine from destroying itself.

It's totally understandable to not want to pay for premium with gas prices right now. But if that's the case, save your money on the ProCal for now and just enjoy the stock tune.

Without using 91-93 octane, you very well may destroy the engine. youll get severe knock/detonation, and the computer cannot retard the timing enough to counter it!
