Am sure you'll luv Moab. Wife & I's 1st visit was last February, and we plan another visit this December. Moab's terrian is spectacular!

You'll get great suggestions here, and those ideas will benefit with a more complete understanding of your specifics, ie, your Bronco's trim level, tire size, your off-roading experience level, how comfortable are you with height exposure, how long will you be there, are solo off-road or with a buddy or group, etc

Cheers

ALL RIGHT - You're well equipped!! Given your sand work, you're probably set up for airing down, etc too.

Solo isn't ideal, but you'll probably have lots of company on Moab area trails. Bring a 2-way radio for sure.

Here're a few trails to get ya started. You'll want to pick-up either a FunTreks type book or smart phone app, On X, or both too.

Easy:
Shafer Trail
Chicken Borners/Hurrah Pass
Onion Creek area

More Difficult:
Hell's Revenge
Poison Spider
Top of the World
Fin's n Things

The TrailsOff-road app is much better for discovering the best curated trails.

  • You can do Shafer Trail, Long Canyon, and Gemini Bridges in a single day (easy). That is a very scenic trifecta.
  • Chicken Corner/Hurrah Pass has similar views, just on the other side of the river from Shafer Trail. Chicken Corner also has Wind Caves, which is a neat stop on the way. (easy)
  • SevenMile Rim is a little more moderate, but is doable alone. Lots of trail diversity. (moderate)
  • Hells Revenge and Fins & Things would be fine for your setup, and has pretty moderate traffic. I would only recommend it if your wife knows how to spot in a couple of places. Otherwise there is enough traffic on that trail someone is bound to come by eventually.
  • If you have never been to Arches, book your ticket now and do the highway drive. There is backroads way to do it, but it isn't visually as impressive as the highway drive.

Spent 6 days in Moab last April, had a Blast! Attended the Bronco Off-Roadeo and did Schafer Switchbacks (from the top down), Potash Road, Chicken Corners, Fins and Things, Gemini Bridges, Willow Springs Road (back way into Arches). You can drive Willow Springs road into the park without an entry ticket, then take the paved road out. We also visited Deadhorse State Park and Canyonlands National Park scenic drives on the pavement. Hope to go back for a visit this winter.

I didn't have On X when we were in Moab last February, so haven't actually used it there. Here in Colorado, On X's tracker function is a big help keeping us the actual trail. You see, there are a lot of side trails both here and in Utah, so you need a good tracker to stay on the right trail.

I'm sure there are other apps, On X is a popular one. Here's a screen shot I just did for the Moab area. Seems to have a bunch of content there. We should always download their maps before heading out to avoid potential loss of cell reception. At least in our mountains, we usually don't have cell signal until we're on a high pass or mtn top.

There's a very unfortunate trend that more and more lands in the West, and trails in Moab, are being closed off by BLM. So check with the BLM office about where you can and can't go. This guide is excellent, but may not be current.

We did the usual suspects Hells, Fins, Schaffer, potash ( potash to Schaffer Direction) pucker pass, Gemini Bridges. And we did Hidden Spire and a few trails in that area. For sure get the book Moab back roads and 4x4 trails. Helps a ton. We started Top of the world but since we started late in the day we only went a little more than half way but Dewey’s bridge is pretty neat. And when in town eat at Dewey’s it’s locally owned, locals work there and the food is excellent. We ate there more than once the week we were there. Have fun. And a little article about our time on Hells. https://thebronconation.com/news/touring-moabs-hells-revenge-in-an-everglades-t.21024/
