Not really Bronco news per-say... but the Ranger is a very close cousin to the Ford Bronco—they are both on the same platform, and both produced at the same assembly plant in Michigan—so I thought I'd post it anyway.

Check it out on Ford's website HERE.

Price Starts at around $35,000 for the base XL model, with the Ranger Raptor starting around $57,000. Some noteworthy things that may give us clues as to what Ford intends on doing for the 2024MY Bronco....

Trims
  • XL
  • XLT
  • Lariat
  • Raptor

Engine Options
  • 2.3L EcoBoost
  • 2.7L EcoBoost
  • 3.0L EcoBoost (Raptor exclusive)

Transmission Options
  • 10-Speed Automatic

Misc New Stuff
  • New Sync Version: Sync 4A
  • New Tire: BFG KO3 All-Terrain

Color Options
  • Cactus Gray
  • Carbonized Gray
  • Azure Gray
  • Iconic Silver
  • Oxford White
  • Hot Pepper Red
  • Shadow Black
  • Velocity Blue
  • Shelter Green (Raptor Exclusive, below)

So... whatcha think???

Personally... disappointed no manual option, but I LOVE the Shelter Green color.

I don't see a manual nor a diesel, so why should I pretend to care?

I’m with you, but the diesel ship sailed away (almost literally) decades ago and the manual ship will probably be leaving port very soon.

Is it because people really didn't want them, or dealerships acted as the middleman and didn't keep them in stock for customers interested in a manual vehicle?

Diesel had its comeback, then "Dieselgate" happened, when Exploding Tesla's are much more dangerous to peoples health than a fractional amount of excess emissions

It's actually not a bad truck, just why is Toyota and Jeep the only ones kept manuals around? Think Ford would have stole some of their thunder, even if it were like the Bronco with the 2.3t

Right? Who doesn't love 3 shades of Gray and 2/3 colors that aren't part of the colorblind rainbow

One new color not used on every other model. But exclusive to the Raptor. Big YAWN. And no 60/40 folding rear seat. Ridiculous.

I like them. But, I need a pick up to tow a CJ7 that might weigh upwards of 2 - 3 tons. And, this pick up needs to be able to pull that CJ uphill at highway speeds of no less than 75mph. I just don't think the 2.7 will do it. And, the Raptor is way out of the range of how many more years I want to work.
No for me on the OD green.
I don't want to know how the Ranger will affect the Bronco - because I most likely will never be buying a new Bronco again. And there might be some good stuff coming for new Broncos.
Thank for sharing @RagnarKon! And for listening to all of our opinions. 😪

Lack of diesel is because the American automakers had awesome lobbyists back in the day and got our governments (both federal and most states) to tax diesel at a higher rate than gasoline.

The lack of a manual is probably largely our own fault though. People don't want them, and unlike many places in Eurasia that require manual transmission competency to receive their driver's license, no such regulations exist here. If most families don't buy them, and their children are never exposed to them, then dealerships will stop ordering them, and eventually it falls out of popularity to the point where it is no longer profitable to sell them.

Case in point... my dealer has 5 Badlands/Black Diamonds on the lot... four of them are manuals and most have been there for a few weeks now. The one automatic they received on Friday was sold today. Not enough of us left to keep manuals profitable in America. 😪

With the headaches Ford has over the 10 spd issues you would think they would want a transmission that doesn't get them flooded with lawsuits.
I know I want a transmission that won't leave me stranded in the woods too many things to go wrong with an auto, they over heat, sticks take out the cooler lines, can get stuck in park.
I never had to walk out with a manual but the number of times an auto left us stranded is way to many.

I wish they would just build transmissions, whether manual or automatic, that just work. They always try to reinvent the wheel.

No rear vents? Of all the things to share from the Bronco platform, that’s what they chose?

Huh.

Not sure why I'd buy the New Ranger over the Maverick. However, I WOULD buy a Bronco pickup (w/ manual trans) over either.

My dad had an Olds diesel for 15+ years. Awesome car for the purpose it was built for. But one hold back for diesel in the USA was the lack of availability of diesel at fuel stations; you had to get fuel at truck stops. These days most gas stations will have a diesel pump, but in the 1970 through 1990s, not many had diesel pumps. Diesel just never caught on in the USA.

I like the Ranger. I just don't need a pickup truck. But if I did, I would consider one. They're decently proportioned and appointed, and I'm sure very useful, particularly if you're a homeowner.

Gladiator and Taco can help wake ya up with a stick, and there's ACT and Centerforce to help Jeep out with their clutch issues as well

Ford keeps having problems with the cheap manual transmissions that they’re buying from China. That would be my guess anyway..
