Sound Deadening Headliner Question

So I recently took delivery of our new Bronco and noticed something about the headliner. On our MY 22 Badlands there is a piece of very thin felt adhered around the handle mechanisms that is under the sound deadening headliner. It really give the top a nice, finished look.

And the roof panels on the MY 25 have nothing in this area. To say the least, it is less than visually appealing.

I am curious as when this change started? Could any of you with a MY 23 or 24 take a look for me? I have looked at several other MY 25 vehicles at my dealership and at another, and they do not have the thin felt on them either. @Ford Motor Company, I am interested as to any input you may have regarding this? Regardless of whether it is a stock order, special order or a special edition vehicle it doesn’t look right. For the amount of money that these cost, and Ford’s recently increased attention to fit, finish and the little details, I’m sure you would want this brought to your attention. Thank you in advanced for your response, Tim

The roof of my 23 WT is dimilar to your 22 BL. There is a thin felt-type layer under the sound deadening liner.

I would have thought the Stroppe got the white roof interior with the black panels not the regular roof interior the black painted top (and body-matched?) gets. My 2021s have both been felt-less, but mine looks way more polished. That sucks for such a nice vehicle.

24 BL and unfortunately it looks like your 25 with no felt underneath. I assumed they were all that way and wish I didn't now know otherwise because it looks so much better with that finishing touch.

Ok I had the same thought regarding the roof. I thought I saw one with a white top on the inside somewhere

That's such an interesting choice -- I just went back to the original press release photos and it's black. The white/black roof interior would have looked nice with the white dash.

I remember seeing a post about the different roofs, and I know Tim Bartz did a video, I'll have to dig those up -- is it a MGV thing to both have the black roof interior and no felt? Does your '22 have leather or MGV?

MGV but I added the SDH. At that time it was a free option

I think the consensus is they missed something, or they redesigned it ugly. Here’s photos from my 22.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

I have to wonder how that thin piece of felt would hold up over time, especially if you take those panels off and on a lot.

The pivoting latch doesn’t even touch the felt on mine. Should last indefinitely.

Same here it doesn’t hit the felt. From what I have seen it looks like some of the later MY 24 and all of the MY 25 with the SDH do not have the felt under the latches. Probably just cost cutting. My issues are that it looks like there are extra holes not being used and that I can see blue over spray from the top being painted.

Makes me wonder how much this cost cutting measure impacts the bottom line… 🤷‍♂️

That's weird. I never even thought about it. But after looking at photos of my front roof panels, there appears to be a thin diecut felt patch underneath the hooks. It's on all four corners on both tops.

IMG_0074.jpeg

Perhaps they removed the felt and the sound deadening prior to painting the tops or never installed it to begin with and just went ahead and applied the sound deadening material once the panels were painted. Perhaps @FordMotorCompany can explain or arrange to have your panels retrofitted with the missing components.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

Just go topless, then you don't need to worry about the look, feel, sound ;)
