A/C Won't turn OFF

Coming back from EJS, I realized only cold air would come out of the vents. The A/C light was not on, so I turned on the A/C and turned it back off, supposedly. The A/C seems permanently on, no matter what I do with the switch. I tried turning off the engine and restarting, with no change. Lest you think it was just cold outside, I was in Cottonwood, AZ, where it was 88 degrees outside. I had to turn the temp control inside the car to 79 in order to not get frozen out. Even with the 79 degree setting, the air coming out was cool, but not quite cold.

Has anyone had this happen? Was there a fix?

I tried to schedule a maintenance appointment at my dealer, and mid-May was as soon as they could get to me. I worked through dealer appointments until I found one available next Monday.

(Which leads me to a complaint about the Ford service scheduling system. Once you change dealers, you have to start at square one. Additionally, you MUST choose a service to move forward. Of course, there is no, "A/C is screwed up" service. Apparently, nothing beside routine maintenance can be scheduled. Which sucks.)

Good morning. Can you send us a private message with more information? I’ll see how I can assist on my end.

The Bronco (not sure about other Fords) cycle the AC every so often especially on days where you only need a little cooling. They do this to keep the coil from freezing up. You will get the temp set just right and about 30 minutes later it starts to blow really cold and hen goes back to normal. Could this have been what you were experiencing?
BN 1100, Desert Sand Everglades. Reservation 7/30/20. ordered 1/22/21, reordered 10/15/21 dropped tow and hard top, reordered 3/9/22 changed to Everglades. production date 9/7/22 rescheduled 9/14/22 completed 9/26/22, shipped 10/7/22, arrived 10/31/22, delivered 11/03/22

Thank you for the reply!

In the past I have experienced exactly what you describe. It IS a bit of a pain. But the current problem is the A/C never goes off. Even with the A/C button light off, only freezing air comes through...
