Powder coating wheels

Looking to purchase a second set of wheels and tires. I would like to powder coat the wheels to match my Eruption Green Black Diamond. What I am interested in knowing, is if powder coating will stand up to a Chicago winter, and if there is a reputable business in the general Chicago area. Also, as a side bar, how/where do I purchase tire pressure sensors from, for the extra set of wheels?
Thank you in advance!

The powder coating question is beyond my pay grade. I know it can be done, I just don't have a good enough understanding to talk about it intelligently.

BUT, tire pressure sensors can be bought directly from Ford. Most tire shops also sell TPMS sensors.

Powder coating looks awesome but it is not undetectable. I had the outer rings powder coated white.
I can't answer for Chicago, I can answer for Utah and Arizona. The rocks win.

There is a pretty large Chicagoland facebook group that could probably give you some decent recommendations.

the little I know about Powder coating and matching colors is that it can be really difficult to match OEM paint colors, you might be able to find something that is close. you might try just coating them with a color that complements the EG. like a gold or bronze.

Had a friend PC wheels, lived in the Detroit area, ya know home of the salt mines, They lasted a bit longer. What they charge to have that done you can almost purchase alumin. wheels.

Thanks @Deano Bronc. Not really sure how well powder coating will hold up to road salt, but I can PM you the link to the FB group…

I am thinking about how the process stands up to road salt. Thank you.

That is what I am afraid of. If I were to go the gold route, I would then have to look into adding more highlights (not a bad idea), to match. Thank you.

Pricing is what I am interested in, as I can`t find what I want in Eruption Green. I was hoping to get some Analog HD from Fifteen52 and have them done up, which is why I wanted to know how salt affects them. Thank you.

I think there was a time where Fifteen52 was doing custom colors for the Bronco, maybe it was just through BN and it was a limited time, or they were floating the idea to see if there was a market but that was a few years ago. Maybe contact them and see if they can get something for you.

Betting “Tire Rack” will save a bunch of money for a set of TPMS over a Ford dealership. Certainly worth a check.

I had mine done more than a year ago. They’ve held up well.
