Hello again, friends. I have the option to buy a Ford Performance axel back exhaust system that's marketed as being specific to the 2.0l Badlands models. A friend of mine wants to sell it to me very cheap as he got it as a gift, never installed it then sold his car. My question is, since it's simply an axel back and not a full on cat back, do you think it would fit on the 1.5l Heritage Edition? They appear to have the same inlet size and I've seen other aftermarket systems (Flowmaster, MagnaFlow etc.) that say their system is compatible with both engines. I also feel like the OEM muffler, by itself, has the same original part number across both engines also. It's also worth mentioning that the Ford Performance exhaust seems to be just the Borla cat back system for the 2.0 just will less pieces. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

What's strange is that Borla doesn't even offer a 2.0 Axle back but does for the 1.5.
I would think if the system would work for both engines, they would market it for both of them. Why would they limit the number of vehicles it could be used with?
Considering how expensive these systems are, not sure I would chance it although I'm sure your buddy is giving you a good deal.

Would he let you just try and fit it before you purchase?

Doesn’t seem like too much of an ask to test the fit, before you buy it. And if he is a real good friend he will help you install it too. Hope it works out for you.

I ended up contacting Borla about it. They just took the cat back kit and took out some pieces and jacked up the price. They told me it probably wouldn't work without mods. They said the inlet size was, in fact, different. I ended up just going with the Borla axle back.
