OBDII port dangling from its bracket

Hey guys, first time Bronco owner here and I am having some troubles with the OBDII port. My wife took the Bronco for a ride the other day and, the next time I used it, the driver seat was still adjusted to her height. I am a big guy and I cannot fit my legs unless the seat is almost all the way back. As I jumped in the Bronco to start adjusting the seat, my knee hit the OBDII port and knock it out of its bracket. I have experience with F150s but I am still learning to work on the Bronco. Given how delicate the harness of the port is, before I start messing with it I would like to hear if any of you have any experience on how to fix this.
Thank you in advance for any tips or advices!

That just snaps back into the plastic holder - no worries.

And, as long as you don’t yank the wires out of the clip or cut them, they are pretty resilient and can handle some handling.

Hope you didn't break the plastic clip when you hit it. I had that happen before. I then used plan D, better known as Duct Tape. Was still there when I sold the truck after 12 years.

I recently installed a Thinkware Dashcam, which I purchased through Ford accessories. It required me to remove the OBDII port from its retainer under the dash and plug it into a harness that was specifically built for the dashcam. The other end of the harness became my “new” OBDII port, which I attached to the dash using the original OBDII retainer under the dash. The retainer built into the dash is the key. Just pop the OBDII port back in.

Side note: the new harness that included the “new” OBDII port also included a module that disables the engine start/stop feature. It does this so the dashcam will continue to function even when the engine shuts off. This may be an attractive workaround or fringe benefit for those who don’t like the engine start/stop feature.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

It’s not having what you want. It’s wanting what you have.

I got the Thinkware DC-M2-FG, part # VHL3Z19G490K. Unfortunately, it's now on backorder. 😝

Thinkware Dashcam

I bought a 256 Gigabyte memory card to replace the 32 Gig card included with the unit. Apart from continuous recording both fore and aft, you can have it function as a motion-sensor camera while parked. I ran the cable to the back window so I would have the best rearview possible. The cable can be disconnected from the rear camera when I remove the roof.

I also opted for the GPS antenna. It records the time, date, location, direction, and speed information for reference upon download. This camera delivers clear images and sound. I strongly recommend it!
