Changed the factory manual transmission oil at 15k in hopes of smoother shifting and quieter running. It was god awful nasty brown and so thin. Also less than 2.5 quarts came out and it took almost 3 so I guess it was low from the factory. I used Redline to replace it and it seems to shift much better and very pleased so far. Cant imagine running that oil more than 15k.

Also changed the rear diff fluid that was equally gross.

Will do the front diff and transfer case soon.

Not surprised your tranny was low from factory. I replaced my rear differential, transfer case, and front differential. All were low from what the capacity called for. My engine drained 7.25 quarts. 🫤
One has to remember that it took Ford almost two years to officially declare the correct oil capacity for the 2.7 engine.
I think it’s best to be your own service technician as you can be sure it’s done right.

I changed all of my oils (engine, front/rear diff's, transfer case and manual tranny) at 20K miles. All were in need of a change based on the colour. I would suggest that you all get them changed prior to the recommended mileage in the owners manual.

Definitely doing 15k change on the trans oil and front diff as it’s cheap and easy. Rear diff likely 10k and transfer case probably 30k.

Thoughts?

I’m about to do this to my Bronco Sport Badlands, it’s in dire need of it… 61k miles, and never changed either before… no record of the previous owner doing so either… trust me I’m cringing as I write this!

I’m sure it’s different for the Sports, I’m assuming you did this on your ā€œbigā€ Bronco, how hard was it? How long did it take you?
What’s this signature for?

Hey. Manual trans about 15 minutes is all. Not sure about then automatic flush versus fluid drop and refill. Diff is also easy

I think what makes all this fluid maintenance so easy on the Bronco is the high clearance. Love that.
Now if Ford would’ve put a drain on the auto transmission pan 😠.
