A larger Bronco imagined, but still no third row seating

The 2nd Gen body style is my favorite Bronco, and many owners of the 2nd-5th reminisce about their roomier interiors. The Autopian imagines what it would be like to get a larger Bronco using the current Ranger platform. It's kind of hideous (in my opinion), but it's a fun read.

How I’d Make A New, Larger Bronco That’s A Tribute To The Most Famous One In History

Ya know... it kinda looks like someone took a Ranger and said "How do I make this look like an SJ?"

I know they were trying to use what they had, but I want to see a Bronco front end.

Yikes! Calling that abomination of metal hideous, is actually being nice to it.... 😂

Oh, and 1st Gen Broncos are my favorite design of all time.. The 1st time I saw a 1st gen I knew that it was for me. It's what got me into 4 wheeling. Used ones, back in the mid 80's, when I could finally afford to buy something, were crazy expensive since they had been discontinued. I settled on a Jeep and was a Jeep guy for 30+ years until the 6th gen came out.. When the 6th gen came out I knew I had to haz one..

That's so cool!

I'm glad our 6Gs look so much like the 1st gens as they probably could have for a modern version (still mad at what happened to the XJ to KL). And that those who have the vision and talent can take them more retro if they want. I love Aardvark122's Ranger Bronco.

This reminds me of the 80's/90's. Took a small off road truck and tried to make a middle of the road and then they died and they went back to the small and now they are thinking about the middle...there's a hole in the bucket!!

I agree took a Ranger pickup and put a top on it.

I guess a broader question:

Do we want or need a 3rd row Bronco SUV?

I sure don't need one. And I'll be controversial and say I don't want one but also it's just me in my family and I don't want to off-road with 6+ people in the same vehicle. For some though, it may be a blessing.

Same. Both Explorer/Expedition are three-row SUVs, no need for another.

That said, I'd be okay with jumper seats, but I don't think they're legal nowadays anyway.

The good old days ... and rolling around in the back of the station wagon with the seats down on the way to vacation

Looks like a cross between the ranger and maverick. I mean if they come out with a bronco pickup I'd be all over it.

No. Thats what the Exploder and Expedition are for.
when F went to the 150 bronco in 78 they handed over the offroad market to Jeep. The big Bronco and Blazer were great on the beach but sucked hard in the woods, they weren't maneuverable, too tall and wide.
They build specialty vehicles to serve a specific purpose. the one size fits all approach doesn't cut it.
Obviously no one learns from history,in the 70s they morphed the Bronco into a large behemoth and eventually sales dropped off and now its happening again? might as well turn it into a generic jelly bean shape like every other suv on the market so as not have an identity..

A 3rd row Bronco Sport, sure. A 3rd row Bronco, no thank you.

Leave our little cube of wonder alone. If you start doing things like a third row to Bronco it is a slippery slope to other abominations like aerodynamics or low profile tires.

I love my blocky bouncing Bronco cube that has more wind resistance than an actual cow.

A longer and bigger Bronco is definitely not something we need. Expeditions are for those who need bigger interiors. If the Bronco is made bigger it becomes useless for off roading. Please, do not let this happen...
