I am upgrading my factory OBX tires to 35". What do I need for mounting the new bigger spare tire? Thanks

I didn't need to do anything to mine, a Badlands 2dr. I have 35x11.5R17 and they fit just fine. No issues with the stock tire carrier either and I did not beef it up..

I did add a Rough Country 3rd brake light extension bracket to give the 3rd brake light more visibility..

Are you keeping the factory wheels? the OBX wheel doesn't look half bad with an aggressive 33" or 35" tire on it.

Depending on the width of the tire you may need a different length for the two tire rubber spacers. You don’t want your tire flexing the mount and damaging the fragile aluminum tailgate. 35” and larger tires are pretty heavy not to mention the extra leverage effect of the larger diameter.

Hmm, I am also upsizing tires from Badlands non-sas KO2s to the stock Sas wheels and tires (prior Everglades wheels). Getting a set of take offs and will probably run the Goodyear Territories for a while. i Know there are a couple extensions to raise the light if needed, but was not thinking about the added width. Are the Sas rubber bumpers shorter? Enough to worry about?

I haven't had any issues with a 10ply 35" tire on my stock tailgate parts. I try to keep an eye on the bolts etc... I do have an aftermarket accessory molle plate that mounts to the hinges, so technically my hinges have a little more support now that they are tied together, but I didn't have issues before adding it.
