About the event

Big Bear Bronco Bash is So Cal Bronco’s annual main event.

Event details

Big Bear Bronco Bash is So Cal Bronco’s annual main event. Now in its 25th year, “The Bash” is a long weekend of Bronco enthusiasts coming together to hit the trails and hang out.

Headquarters: The Majestic Moose Lodge, 39328 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315

BBBB is an “unevent,” meaning there is no official registration, no steering committee, and no official schedule. It is absolutely FREE to attend Big Bear Bronco Bash and enjoy whatever is going on, as So Cal Broncos have no official apparatus for charging money and incurring costs. But that doesn’t mean nothing happens. Far from it! BBBB is an all-volunteer event, with individuals and groups stepping forward to make each aspect of the event happen. In some cases they will ask for and accept donations to help cover their costs. But attendance and participation is free.

That said, a “DIY” event like this does place some responsibility on each participant. There is nobody to herd you, nobody to tell you where to go and what to do. So it’s up to you to join in the discussions and find out how to make the most of the event.

The discussions are held on the Soc Cal Bronco's Facebook pages:

Finally, there's a lot of discussion on the So Cal Broncos forum (https://socalbroncos.com/forum/threads/big-bear-bronco-bash-xxv.1072/) as well. Check it out!

I’m not sure but want to piggy back your question. My brother and I were already contemplating heading to Big Bear to off-road; he has a 4Runner though.

Not sure if it’s exclusive to Broncos but would understand if it is being a BN event.

Worth asking though!

Thinking about it, its a bit of a drive from Canada, but after 24 years of this event, it must be a blast.

I see 2 different dates on the SoCal Bronco site it says Jun11-14 on the Bronco Nation site it says Jun 5-8. Should we be following the SoCal Bronco dates?

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

This is all wrong. The official dates for Big Bear Bronco BashXXV (yup, it's in it's 25th year) are June 11-14, 2026. I'm not sure who created this event, but I would suggest that they reach out to Dusty and get all of the correct information. If you're interested in this event, you can jump on the SoCal Broncos forum at: https://socalbroncos.com/forum/ where all of the planning, and discussion goes on.

Sorry, all, I think I was pulling last year's entry when I added this and didn't update some of the moving parts. Thanks to @JoergH for contacting me about it!

Folks,

As stated above, "Bash" is a non-event event. Here's how Dusty (the main organizer) describes it: https://socalbroncos.com/forum/threads/bbbbxxv-hitting-the-trails-at-big-bear-bronco-bash.1078/

I also highly recommend registering for the So Cal Broncos forum at: http://socalbroncos.com where some of the discussion, etc. happens.

Finally, If you're going to attend, it would be nice if we could get the BN folks together. Can you let me know what dates you plan to attend?

Folks, I'll be leading an "easy" run on Thursday 6-11-2026 to kick things off at Bash. For more details and signup check out https://socalbroncos.com/forum/thre...-historic-scenic-run-thursday-6-11-2026.1089/

Here's the description:

Holcomb Valley Rd. (3N16) provides a scenic, enjoyable drive for all off-road enthusiasts. Note that this run welcomes any and all Bronco's regardless of trim, etc. including Sports as well. This is basically just a dirt fire road and is easy, however, weather can affect the road, and we may come across some wash outs/ruts, etc. This is a great run for beginners and those looking for an easy "warmup" for the rest of Bash.

At roughly 26 miles, this overland trail will take you through the backwoods of the San Bernardino National Forest. Along with some great views, Holcomb Valley Rd (3N16) is also a historic route that takes you through the history of Holcomb Valley's gold rush. During this trip, you will see abandoned mines, dig sites, grave sites, pygmy cabins, and much more. Holcomb Valley Rd (3N16) is the main connector between most of the trails in Holcomb Valley, including Holcomb Creek, Dishpan Springs, John Bull, White Mountain, Gold Mountain, and many more.

What you need to bring:
  • HAM/GRMS Radio GMRS/FRS Channel Primary: 16 Secondary:18 (for those of you with HAM radios that's Primary: 462.5750, Secondary: 462.6250)
  • GPS Reader of some type (we'll communicate files in GPX) (optional)
  • 1 full size spare
  • Lunch, water & snacks
  • Basic tools and recovery gear (if you don't have these, there are some good threads on the Socal Bronco's forum as well as here on Bronco Nation talking about what you need to get. Since this is an easy trail, you SHOULDN'T need them)

Note that there's a special run on Friday put on by the Souther California Mountains Foundation. If you're interested you can sign up for that one here: https://socalbroncos.com/forum/thre...ountain-foundation-rigs-restoration-run.1100/

Here's the description:

BBBB Rigs & Restoration – Friday, 6/12 – Fix Signs in the Forest & Learn About the OHV Program, USFS, and SoCal Mountains Foundation
Come join an organized rigs‑and‑restoration volunteer run on Friday, June 12, as part of the Big Bear Bronco Bash weekend. This is a low‑key, easy‑to‑moderate volunteer day focused on trail stewardship, not technical trail running.

What we’re doing
• We’ll head into the forest with the Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF) and US Forest Service (USFS) to fix and replace OHV signs, clear debris, and do light forest‑maintenance work.
• You’ll also get a chance to learn about the OHV program, how National Forests are managed, and how this kind of stewardship helps keep our trails open.

Where we’re going
We’ll start in the Big Bear / Holcomb Valley corridor and then caravan into the project area on legal, signed National Forest roads and trails, with no side‑hacking or cutting and running. The access is similar in vibe to the Holcomb Valley Historic/Scenic run, just swapped from “cruising” to “working the forest.”

What kind of rig is needed
• This is not a technical trail run. Stock or lightly built rigs with decent clearance are fine. There is no limit to the number of rigs joining us for this run.
• You do not need 37s, lockers, or rock‑crawling armor to participate and still get a ton out of the SCMF/USFS discussion.

When and where to meet
• Date: Friday, June 12, 2026
• Time: Meet‑up at 9:00 AM
• Location: Meet at the Big Bear Discovery Center (parking area near the visitor center). Address: 40971 North Shore Drive/Hwy 38, Fawnskin, CA 92333 Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/v3FDxsYbgHWcMvUE7

COMMS: GMRS/FRS Channel Primary: 16 Secondary:18 (for those of you with HAM radios that's Primary: 462.5750, Secondary: 462.6250)

If you’re new to the Bash or to this group, just show up with gloves and a willingness to help. Coffee and stories are highly encouraged after the work.
What to bring
• Work gloves and sturdy footwear
• Sunscreen, hat, and plenty of water
• Pack a lunch and snacks—there will not be any food stops out in the forest.
• Your Bronco, Jeep, or other 4x4 (or ride along with a friend if you don’t have a rig)

Why this run matters
By helping fix signs, clean up the forest, and talking directly with SCMF and USFS, you’re showing that the OHV community cares about keeping Southern California’s trails open and respected. Hope to see a good crew of rigs there on 6/12 Friday at 9:00 AM at the Big Bear Discovery Center to put in some work and keep our trails healthy for years to come.

Folks, I just got the green light to be at Bash all weekend. I was just going to attend Thursday and Friday, but plans change. So, at this point I have an easy run I'm leading on Thursday, and I'll be at the SCMF "event"/run on Friday (BTW, if you haven't signed up for that, it's really cool. It gives you a pretty good idea of what the volunteers do to help keep the trails open and usable for everyone). Anyway since I will now be there on Sat. and Sunday as well, I'm trying to decide what kind of runs I can lead on this days. Is anyone interested in another easy-medium run on Sat? If so, let me know and I'll get it set up. On Sunday, I can't attend the Heartbreak Ridge Memorial run, so I'm thinking a "down the mountain" run for that last taste of dirt before heading back to the real world. Again, let me know if the might be of interest.
