Hi al I am trying to replace my OEM antenna with a shorter version but everything I see online comes with a male adapter and my bronco has a male adapter. I have looked online to see if I can take out the current male adapter but I am only finding videos where the bronco already has a female adapter installed.

Anyone have any good sites to buy a female adapter?

Hey, I ran into this myself without knowledge of what Ford has done. The factory installed antennas come with the male end FIXED in place and cannot be removed. I went to install my new stubby antenna but the stud threads didn’t match up to the new antenna. I thought the stud may have been stuck in the female side so I tried drilling it out to only find out it is permanently installed. I ended up having to order a new antenna wire because of my mistake. Funny thing is the new wire that came, you can interchange the stud now With it. I am not sure where to get an adapter, but I just didn’t want you or anyone else making the same mistake I made and having to replace the end piece of the wire, which by the way is a tricky task.

Attached is a picture of a 14" antennae I have on mine. It screws directly on to the male stud, no adaptor needed. I bought it at O'Reilly. Sorry, I don't recall the brand.

Thanks for that. Sorry you had to be the Guinea pig for that. I’m going to look for an adapter.

Sam'66, yes that is interesting. Mine is a '24 Black Diamond with standard 7 speaker system. If yours is a B&O, that might explain the difference. Or, this gender thing has infiltrated our Broncos? My factory antennae pictured below.

Strike 3, I think O'Reilly may have an adaptor pack, but for $17, you can buy the same, and similar, antenna kits like mine that include all the adaptors.

I have the 10 speaker B&O system. I notice that the original antenna mount is flush with the cowling. The replacement one that I received stands up out of the hole by about 1/2” or so. Not sure if the flush mount one versus the taller one is also the difference, might be something to note on the different models.

On a serious note….. after a brief search on the interweb….. Ford changed the antenna mounts sometime in 2024. A company called Ronin supposedly sells an adapter.!! Fwiw.

What i want is an antenna the works as good as the one that came with but shorter. I’ve tried one but just didn’t work as well.

Ronin has various antennas and I purchased one for my wildtrack and another for my Braptor there. They work great.

We have a MY22 and bought a cheap stubby from Autozone that has all kinds of adapters, I picked one that fit but I think it is just a tad different thread type/size because that stubby ain’t coming off now. But it ok I don’t listen to the radio anyway. Just Spotify.
